Footage of Brad Pitt By: Andrew Moran Waiting. That is the key word in terms of what happened on Saturday Night. A lot of festivalgoers and bystanders waited for at least 2 hours to get a glimpse of Brad Pitt. Was it worth it? Was the 2 hours, for me 3+ hours, of waiting worth the 45 seconds of Brad Pitt? I’ll leave that up to you.

The evening began first on Hazelton Lane at the Hazelton Hotel. A lot of people were standing around and no one knew whom they were waiting for. Incidentally, a lot of people asked me, at least 10 I think. This wait was for a little more than an hour and no one showed up. A lot of ‘unimportant’ people came in and out of limousines and tinted windowed cars but not one celebrity. As the time passed by people just left. However, one of the managers at the hotel looked a lot like Heinrich Himmler. All he was missing was a leather coat, thinner hair and saying, “oppergrubenfuhrer.”
After we left we decided to go for another walk around Yorkville, however we didn’t have to go far because down the road at ‘Morton’s Steak House’ another batch of people were standing outside of the hotel. Once again no one knew whom he or she were waiting for. As time went by, I was losing batter power. Suddenly one man was telling this small group of people that he saw Brad Pitt walking into the restaurant. Are you telling me this one guy was standing around there since the beginning? Yeesh!
People were restless now and quite excited to see this big ‘A’ list celebrity. Even I, Andrew, was growing restless and excited. My arms and back were killing me, trying to reach over people’s heads with my camera. As the sky was getting darker and darker the front entrance of Morton’s Steakhouse was beginning to become fervent. People getting their cameras out and ready and me getting pushed around and bumped all over the place. Finally…He came out! The screams, the thrills and the excitement. Keyword in this article is ‘excitement’.
As soon as I got the footage I left. As I walked through Yorkville I happened to see Mr. Bill Maher. If you don’t know who he is, he was the host of ‘Politically Incorrect’ and is now the host of ‘Real Time with Bill Maher’. With my luck I had put my camera back in my bag and couldn’t get it out in time. Plus I’m not one of those people who stop a celebrity on the street to get a photograph. I apologize in advance for the unstill photographs. I think I’m developing Parkinson’s or Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. That or I just have an unsteady hand. Oh and maybe, just maybe, at the 45-second mark he could’ve been waving right at me! |
