Written by J.A. Milnes Pooh's Heffalump Movie opened Friday, Februay 11, 2005 in theatres. It is a delightful movie for children and adults. The main characters are Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Roo, Kanga and a wonderful baby Heffalump named Lumpy and his mother. The Hundred Acre Wood friends go on an expedition to capture a Heffalump. Roo cannot go because he is too little. In the morning little Roo sets out on his own as he does not want to be left out. The other friends set out together and bring many funny items to catch a Heffalump.
Roo is first to leave the Hundred Acre Wood and to enter the scary Heffalump Hollow. Not long after Roo meets a baby Heffalump named Lumpy who lets Roo catch him. They play together and baby Lumpy follows Roo out of Heffalump Hollow into the Hundred Acre Wood to meet the other friends. Lumpy was scared to meet Rabbit, Pooh, Piglet and Tigger because he stated everyone knows they are very scary. At this point in the movie we learn that different things scare different people and ignorance plays a big part. Roo and baby Lumpy make a big mess at Pooh's house and Rabbit's garden. They eat or destroy almost all the food and vegetables. When the friends return home they discover that all the honey is gone and the garden destroyed. They set out to prepare traps to catch the Heffalump. Not too long after Lumpy is discovered and chased into a trap. Roo helps Lumpy escape but in the commotion Roo falls down a Ravine into cut trees and holds on for dear life over a cliff. Baby Lumpy learns to make Heffalump calls to ask for help from his mother who comes to the rescue. Mother Heffalump picks up and removes large trees with her trunk, climbs down into the Ravine and saves little Roo. Kanga and the friends cheer her on and celebrate the rescue of little Roo. Rabbit apologizes to baby Lumpy and his mother for being so bad to them. They all become dear friends and they celebrate and play together. The movie is wonderful as it teaches us not to prejudge people as we are all the same. We love our friends and family and we can all learn to live happily together and have fun together. |
