Superbug Kills 90,000 each year:A U.S. government health report confirmed that more than 90,000 Americans get infections each year caused by a drug-resistant "superbug". Dr Allison McGeer of Mount Sinai Hospital stated that the durg-resistant staph infections are one of the leading causes of death in Canada and the United States and it has not been getting much media attention to date when compared to other rare diseases such as West Nile Virus. This is a wake up call to be more vigilant.The U. S. report, published this morning in the Journal of American Medical Association states that the superbug called methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA will kill 90,000 Americans this year and infect thousands more .Most of the cases were life-threatening bloodstream infections and 10% pertained to flesheating diseases.
