By Alanna Davey Alanna Davey travels to Australia on assignment for the Toronto Times and takes us along for a great trip.

#2 a night at the beach road Located in the sexiest suburb of Sydney, Bondi, you'll find a little gem called the Beach Road Hotel. Where the hip hop beats are underground and the crowd is ultra cas. The bar itself doesn't sport a chic décor like most of the other clubs in the area, but it does offer mixed drinks and house wine for about five bucks...tip included. #3 at the home and garden show The Domain, normally the playing grounds for Sydney's leisure athletes is transformed for a week at the end of September to display some of the countries most beautiful gardens at the annual Home and Garden Show. With over one hundred concessions, a multitude of full size gardens sets, wine tastings, and lets not forget all the handsome outdoor architects; Sydney's Home and Garden Show promises to be a hit for the ladies...and of course the gentlemen who accompany them. #4 the CBD Throughout Sydney on might notice a number of Georgian style sandstone buildings, reminding us of the city's Victorian heritage. But step into the CBD (central business district) and there you will find the hundreds of futuristic skyscrapers that make up the city's gravity defying skyline. #5 sunrise in Port Douglas
At 6:12 am the sun rises in Port Douglas. The lookout on Flagstaff Hill is the best place to check it out. Over the Coral Sea the sun rises through the clouds to illuminate the sky, while in the red light from the spectrum is refracted into the Western skies. This creates a pink haze over the mountains which the locals call "a sailors warning." #6 the store in Cairns Shiva Moon Shiva Moon is the coolest store in Cairns. Imagine the most sought out items on Queen Street West brought together in one super store. The owner of actually hand picks every item herself. Don't be surprised if you can only find one of something...it's probably one of a kind! What caught my eye? These lacy pumps! Ready for a Friday night at the bowling alley? #7 Cairns community pool Cairns, the capitol city of tropical north Queensland, has a climate fit for swimming all year round. This gorgeous body of water that seems to melt into the ocean is in fact the community pool where swimming lessons and water sports take place. #8 Cairns Library Building The Cairns City Library is representative of the architectural style scene throughout the entire city. Its pristine streets are lined with Colonial style buildings while its beaches are fringed with tropical palms. #9 the walk to the beach
It's no wonder why Port Douglas has become one of the largest resort towns in Queensland. Tourists flock here all year round to shop in boutiques on its tree lined streets, and to take this path to its amazing four mile beach, where paradise truly can be discovered. #10 gals cheery on the beach The sound of rolling waves, the warm tropical breeze, the sweet ocean smell, the salty sprays, and the bubbly sand under your feet, every sense you have can be awakened on the Four Mile beach. #11 four mile beach from the lookout The state of Queensland is situated on a 6973 kilometre shoreline. This beach, named the four mile beach makes up about six kilometres of it, yet is the most famous in the state. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and bound by the Great Barrier Reef its waters are quite warm at an average temperature of 80 degrees. |
