By Stacey Mantzioris,

Nice
The 5th Dimension

Hey everyo
ne,
I think I've found a smaller version of the Bermuda Triangle - also
known as the French Riviera.   There's no other explanation for this
place.  The hotel that I'm staying at in Nice has been renamed Hotel
California by everyone staying there since no one that has arrived
since I've been here has checked out.

They're still here day after day, and some people I've met have even rented apartments and are
working here now when they'd only planned on spending a night.  The
fact that a bottle of wine is cheaper here than a can of Coke might
have something to do with it... but the scenery is out of control -
there are palm trees (it actually kind of looks like Miami) and the
ocean is this crazy fluorescent blue (I haven't gone in because the
whole thing's kind of suspicious as far as I'm concerned) but there
are the most random people on the beach at all times which makes for
good people-watching since tanning has become my full time job.

The festival has been amazing - I've been taking the train in to
Cannes for the premieres and I've seen Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
at the Troy premiere, and Uma Thurman, Quentin Tarantino and Darryl
Hanna at Kill Bil 2l
.  Quentin (we're on a first name basis now) came
across the street to sign autographs and he was so close I could have
headbutted him.  Naturally I refrained.  Besides the premieres there's
always a million entertaining things to look at - street musicians,
mimes, people from LA talking on cell phones... it's almost over
though and my last goal is to track down Michael Moore a la Michael
Moore and ask him his opinion on stuff.  Sadly, there's been no sign
of George Clooney but there's always a chance he'll track me down and
propose when I'm in Italy.

You all know I'm missing you tons so I'll keep the sap to a minimum -
the next update will be coming from Spain with cameo appearances by
Marsha Mowers and Angie Kapetanou so whatever you don't hear from me
you can read about in the papers... bye for now my friends - I hope
the gas prices aren't killing everyone and keep the hockey updates
coming - I've been reduced to reminiscing about the Leaf's playoff run
against the Kings over cheap wine with some Canadians I've met. It's
not a pretty scene.

Ciao for now,
Stacey.

May 29/04 - Mallorca
The Unholy Trinity

Well, it's finally happened...Marsha and Angie have arrived.  After
breaking into the country and bypassing Spanish customs entirely I
found them just hanging out at the airport bar, while I naively waited
for them at the arrivals gate.  They decided to forego the check-in
process, and just walked out of the terminal...in their defence they
don't read Spanish.  All's well that ends well though and in the few
short hours we've been in Mallorca we've managed to figure out that
sangria is more readily available than water so we all know where
that's about to go... Hell, meet handbasket.

More to follow... tonight is our first night in Mallorca so we'll have
more to talk about soon...

And a special shout out to Ari Moses who should be married by now!!

Bye everybody,
Angie, Marsha, and Stacey.
