Marco Mancini was one of the most powerful Italians operating outside the public spotlight.
He has No. 2 at Italy's Sismi military intelligence agency. No more as he was arrested yesterday for his role ing eh alleged CIA kidnapping of a terrorism suspect in Milan in 2003. Arrest warrants have been issued for four Americans in connection with the same plot. A second Sismi official was also placed under house arrest. Agents have a difficult time operating in western democracies and this case demonstrates just how difficult their work has become. |
