The Armenian Genocide is a historical fact. The Turks insult our intelligence! Enough of this nonsense! Canada should stand firm and ignore Turkey's protests. The Armenian Genocide in the U.S Archives, 1915 - 1918 Available From the National Archives and the Library of Congress - the most comprehensive documentation in the world on the Armenian Genocide.
In 1915 the Turkish Ottoman government began implementing a policy to annihilate the Armenians of the empire through deportations and massacres. At that time the U.S. Embassy in Constantinople was the primary focus of attention for those reporting on the escalating violence. Over 30,000 pages of documents from the Department of State and other government agencies, reproduced on microfiche, relate in chilling detail the implementation of this policy of genocide. Documents include eyewitness accounts of deportations and massacres reported by consular officials, missionaries and relief workers, as well as State Department reports and cables providing details on the background of Near Eastern ethnic tensions, on the rise of the Djemal, Enver, Talaat (`Young Turks') regime, on the international response to the Armenian crisis, and on the aftermath of the war. A substantial index allows quick and easy access to the names and testimonies of hundreds of participants and witnesses. | |
One million, Five Hundred Thousand (1,500,000) Armenians died in the Armenian Genocide. Go to the National Archives and the Library of Congress to view hundreds of photographs and documents.Over 30,000 pages of documents from the U.S. Department of State and other government agencies are reproduced at the following site:[www.geocities.com/thegenocide/phots.photos1.htm] In 1915 the Turkish Ottoman government began implementing a policy to annihilate the Armenians of the empire through deportations and massacres. At the time the U.S. Embassy in constantinople was the primary focus of attention for those reporting on the escalating violence. A scholarly and accurrate account is found in US Embassador Henry Morgenthau's book which accurately describes the mass murder of innocent Armenians. Morgenthau was the US embassador to the Ottoman Empire based in Instabull at the time. He had direct evidence which is solid based on first hand reliable intelligence sources. Morgenthau is a well respected, independent and trusted scholar and stateman. The Turks should repent these evil acts and apologize. They should pay compensation to the victims just as the Nazis. Moreover, legal action should be commenced to force any private corporations to pay compensation just as the German and Swiss corporations recently were compelled to pay damages.
It is insulting to the memory of the victims and to our intelligence to have the Turkish government continue to deny the Truth. Our government should put them on notice that enough is enough! His generals looked at history and realized the Ottoman Turks got away with mass murder and no one even remembered and this fact encouraged them to plan and execute the Jewish Halocaust. Millions more died in WWII as a direct result of the World's failure to recognize the Armenian Genocide and to punish the Ottoman Turks for mass murder. The Grey Wolfs and other Turkish Nationalist groups also have adopted many of the tactics of the Nazis. We are not fooled! We know the truth! We do not want to repeat this crime again. The Turks are again attempting to mislead the world. Turkey again has failed to live up to its potential. In Afghanistan it has failed to send enough troops to help Nato and the people of Afghanistan. It now denies a historical fact and wastes resources attempting to continue conceal the Genocide. If Turkey wants to join the European Union it must come to terms with its past just like Germany did. Modern Turkey is not the Ottoman Empire and surely it can recognize a historical truth and move forward. Hitler, when planning the Jewish Genocide in WWII, referred to the Armenian halocaust and stated:"Who remembers the Armenians?" |
