Dr. Ruth Westheimer says anything goes for Shalom Bayit PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 04 January 2007

Famous TV personality Dr. Ruth Westheimer lectured in Ottawa recently on sex and Jewish home life.

"I believe that for us Jews, sex was never considered a sin...sex is not just for procreation, but for recreation...under the chupah, a man promises to provide food, shelter and sexual satisfaction." According to Jewish scholars "anything that can be done to bring about shalom bayit [peace in the home]  is permissible...for shalom bayit, everything goes!" Too bad we are not all Jewish!

On the topic of homosexuality she stated it is "paricularly troublesome in our tratiion. On Yom Kippur afternoon, there is a prayer which specifically lists who can engage in sexual activity." At the same time, she stated everyone deserves respect and dignity.
