On January 28th, 2007 the First Take International Student Film Festival took place at Rainbow Cinemas Market Square on Front Street, whom also sponsored the event.Paris Roger and Anna-Marie Cerovski coordinated the film festival and already have plans for the next festival, which will be in 2008.
It was an early start to the First Take International Film Festival and it was a good amount of guests and people in the industry, whom also showed up early.Majority of people were also there to network, therefore the luncheon afterwards. This festival contained the student film winners from the 2006 First Take International Student Film Festival.First Take screening was approximately an hour long showing around 7 films and each lasted from one minute to ten minutes.
Each motion picture was done from a student across the country from such schools as Vancouver Film School to York University to Ryerson, etc. These winners were also given plaques after the screening, which gives incredible amount of credibility from the schools and also talent to these kids.
Founder of the First Take International Student Film Festival, Paris Roger, created this festival for students who wanted to get their names out and succeed in the film business. And I might add, this is a not-for-profit festival that Roger has created. The next submission of films for the next festival will be in the summertime.
