Toronto Times exclusive: TTC is "dirty, disgusting and unsafe".

As cities around the world improve their public transit sytems the TTC is traveling in the wrong direction. Managers are making big bucks but rarely use the system. POliticians fail to supervise and fail to lead.  Visitors to Toronto who do use public transit, observe garbage on the tracks, sewage, leaky roofs, and more garbage on platforms, stairs, and outdoor public spaces. Greenwood station is one of the worst. One lady described it as "dirty and disgusting" . She is correct!

Even stations such as Rosedale have too much garbage. Spadina station has crumbling celing with concrete falling and rusting interior. Stations east of Broadview are the worst. The dowtown stations are the best. Overall the system gets a failure grade of D-.

This is disgraceful. Where are the  politicians and TTC managers?

Free publications and the popularity of fast foods and coffee has produced mountains of garbage. In contrast, cities like Athens, Greece, and New York City have improved their subway systems. Their citizens take pride in spotless stations with art (not graffiti), music and excellent communication systems. What went wrong with our system? Complaints to TTC staff about the garbage are ignored. They do not care as it is not their problem stated one employee as he is a driver and another female employee at Greenwood station (she sells tickets in a booth) stated there is nothing she can do; and, in any event, management does not care, she stated.

In a recent early morning incident  a young male was stabed at Victoria Park station.  The victim attempted to flee his attacker(s) and escaped on the subway. He collapsed in a pool of blood at Kennedy Subway station.

This is disgraceful and explains why things are so bad.

Toronto is falling behind and the leaders are asleeep at the wheel, making big money and using their private cars, Lords of "Pigsville".
