93 Canadians have been killed in Afghanistan since 2002. |
Three more Canadians soldiers were killed in Aghanistan , and five wounded, this week. Wednesday's deaths are the worst one-day toll for Canadians this year. The Canadian cassualties were sustained in direct combat with the Taliban, near Cham Bazzar on the north side of the Arghandab river. An elite unit of Taliban fighters recruited from the south, and heavily armed using the Taliban's best weapons ambushed the Canadians. The enemy ambushed our troops near Khandahar. The attack was organized by Mullah Mohibullah, the Chief Justice and insurgent leader in Halgham district. The Taliban has become more aggressive this fighting season launching well co-ordinated ambushes on Nato forces. The United States and France suffered cassualties in similar attacks over the past year. |
