The Greek Orthodox Church rocked by scandal The Greek Orthodox Church suspended a senior bishop  amid claims of clergy fixing the outcome of court trials. Allegations have surfaced that some clergymen have tried to influence or bribe judges to win cases for friends, including suspected drug dealers. These allegations have shocked the political, religious and judicial establishments. The public has been asked to assist the government and to report all priests suspected of such activities. 93 Canadians have been killed in Afghanistan since 2002.

Three more Canadians soldiers   were killed in Aghanistan , and five wounded,  this week.

Wednesday's deaths are the worst one-day toll for Canadians this year.

The Canadian cassualties were sustained in direct combat with the Taliban, near Cham Bazzar on the north side of the Arghandab river.

An elite unit of Taliban fighters recruited from the south, and heavily armed using the Taliban's best weapons ambushed the Canadians. The enemy ambushed our troops near Khandahar. The attack was organized by Mullah Mohibullah, the Chief Justice and insurgent leader in Halgham district.

The Taliban has  become more aggressive this fighting season launching well co-ordinated ambushes on Nato forces. The United States and France suffered cassualties in similar attacks over the past year.

            From Montreal to Moscow, the media is full of alarming stories of skinheads – heavily tattooed shaved-head youth, bedecked in Nazi symbols - attacking Jews, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, homosexuals and homeless people, whom they perceive as racial enemies.
In August two Israelis were hospitalized after being beaten by a group of skinheads at a rock concert in Belgrade, Serbia. “They were chanting ‘Auschwitz, Auschwitz’ and ‘Go to Germany’ as they attacked us,” Jarly Avram – one of those assaulted - was reported as saying. No arrests were made.
